Encouraging Youth for Undertaking Innovative Research through Vibrant Acceleration (E-YUVA)

Aims to nurture innovative ideas of young researchers and techno-entrepreneurs through professional mentoring and financial support for the project. The scheme is implemented through University Innovation Cluster (UIC) and Cluster Innovation Centre (CIC) established in the universities such as Anna University, Chennai; Panjab University, Chandigarh; Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore; University of Rajasthan, Jaipur and University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. These innovation centres have led to the creation of a networking platform with stakeholders along with incubation support.

Bioincubators Nurturing Entrepreneurship for Scaling Technologies (BioNest)

Aims to support start-ups and entrepreneurs by providing incubation space, networking with the industry and the academia; business, technical and IP mentorship; technology management; legal advisory, etc. Under BioNest, BIRAC has established 41 bioincubators at various academic and research institutes all over India (list of bioincubators can be accessed from http://www.birac.nic.in/aceFund.php). These bioincubators have 377 resident companies and 360 products/technologies are in the pipeline.

Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG)

This programme of BIRAC intends to assist scientists with an entrepreneurial bent of mind, who are either a part of academia or research institute or own a start-up. It functions through its six partners [Venture Centre, Pune; Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT-Delhi; Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), Bengaluru; SIDBI Innovation and Incubation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur and Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Technology Business Incubator (KIIT-TBI), Bhubaneswar], which act as the nodal centres for easy disbursal of funds. The scheme has supported 330 entrepreneurs and has led to the creation of >90 start-ups.
