In PPP mode of collaborative research, industry (comprising of large corporates, MNCs and MSMEs) benefits through procurement of nascent technology at a nominal price, acceleration of translational research through collaboration based public funded support and better market competency. PPP also addresses the industrial requirements in terms of professional competency, skilled manpower, consultancy, technical and specialized programmes for officers etc. from the academic sector.

Government
Government is the major facilitator of PPP for R&D and innovation. Exploring PPPs as a way of introducing private sector technology and innovation in providing better public services through improved operational efficiency can be put into place with an effective government policy on PPP.

Financial institutions can play important role in boosting PPP by coming up with the financial support mechanisms for both public and private sectors in order to further encourage the financial markets to lend into projects.
