Start-up India

This is one of the most impactful flagship programmes of DPIIT. It was initiated in 2016 with a notion to nurture innovative start-ups in the country. The scheme works for empowering the start-ups with the following measures:
- Simplification procedural set up for start-ups and handholding to start-ups for their development
- Providing funding support to set up start-ups
- Provide a number of incentives (such as tax incentive: 3-year tax holiday) for technology oriented start-ups.
Make in India

The scheme launched in 2014 provides investment support for development and upgradation of indigenous businesses in India. The scheme is a collaborative effort of Central and State governments, industry leaders and knowledge partners. This scheme monitors ease of doing business along with investment promotion and other facilitation activities for the industries. The indigenous business houses under ‘Make in India’ are supported by the government in the following ways:
- Foreign direct investments
- Location identification
- Approvals and construction required for setting up a business as an Indian company
- Taxation overview
- IP administration
- Trading across borders
Invest India

It is a joint venture company (a not-for-profit company) of DPIIT, FICCI and various state governments with a shareholding of 45%, 51% and 4% respectively. It holds the responsibility of sector specific facilitating investments in R&D in India. It is providing investment opportunities in ~16 sectors including biotechnology, electronics, aviation, medical devices, healthcare, automobiles and others. It also aids in developing new strategic partnership amongst public and private sectors nationally and internationally for sustainable investments for socio-economic development.
It has led to the formation of ‘India Investment Grid’ as a single interactive platform connecting investors, promoters and projects for facilitating the ease of doing business in India.
Project Based Support to Autonomous Institutions

The scheme provides ‘Grant-in-aid Support’ to autonomous institutions in order to strengthen their research competencies to provide technical support for enhancing industry competitiveness.
Modified Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme (MIIUS)

MIIUS was launched in 2003 with an aim to promote the growth of domestic industries by giving access to infrastructure developed under PPP mode.
Under MIIUS, some of the successful projects are as follows: (i) Bamboo Technology Park, Guwahati; (ii) Kolhapur Foundry Cluster, Maharashtra; (iii) Marathwada Automobile Cluster, Aurangabad; (iv) Narol Textiles Infrastructure and Environment Management, Narol, Gujarat and (v) Readymade Garments Cluster, Jabalpur.
