The programme is implemented jointly by BIRAC and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to support the development of multidisciplinary innovations in medical devices, electronics, engineering, etc. The programme provides support at three stages: early stage (financial support in the form of a grant), early transition stage (financial support in the form of a mix of grant and loan) and transition to scale stage (financial support in the form of a mix of grant and loan). In third stage, the industry and government fund the project with equal contribution.
BIRAC has partnered with the various public as well as private organizations for the promotion of biotechnology lead innovations, such as, CEFIPRA-BPI France; Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; Lord Education and Health Society (LEHS); IKP Knowledge Park (IKP)/USAID; TEKES; Welcome Trust; Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and others. Many of these partnerships are promoting I-A collaborative research projects.
BIRAC in collaboration with Syngene International Ltd. a global contract research organization has established CAPS at Syngene International Ltd., Campus, Bengaluru.
