The TDB is an autonomous board set up to provide financial assistance to Indian industries and related agencies for developing and commercializing indigenous technologies and adoption of foreign technologies for domestic applications.

TDB Programmes and Initiatives to Support Industrial R&D

Financial Assistance Programme

The programme provides financial assistance to industry for pursuing its R&D activities under the following support systems:

  • Loan @ 5% simple annual interest (up to 50% of the project cost)
  • Equity (up to 25% of the project cost)
  • Grant (projects having national importance)

Through this programme, TDB has supported nearly 230 industries in various sectors such as Agricultural (24 projects with ₹52.67 Cr* assistance), Air Transport (2 projects with ₹67.8 Cr assistance), Chemical (27 projects with ₹82.6 Cr assistance), Air Defence and Civil Aviation (1 projects with ₹2.20 Cr assistance), Electronics (4 projects with ₹40.35 Cr assistance), Energy (9 projects with ₹59.23 Cr assistance), Engineering (64 projects with ₹231.87 Cr assistance), Healthcare (79 projects with ₹391.16 Cr assistance), IT (41 projects with ₹147.11 Cr assistance),  Road Transport (10 projects with ₹67.8 Cr assistance), Telecom (11 projects with ₹36.84 Cr assistance) and others (3 projects with ₹32.85 Cr assistance).

 Seed Support Scheme

Through this scheme, TDB provides financial assistance to 36 Technology Business Incubators (TBIs) and Science & Technology Entrepreneur Park (STEPs) worth ₹100 lakh grant to each TBI and STEP. The grant is provided to support start-ups and entrepreneurs with product development, mentoring, consultancy, patenting, testing etc.

 Venture Capital Fund

The TDB has participated in a number of venture capital funds in the country as Limited Liability Partner to promote and spread technology development all over India. It has supported 11 venture capital funds with ₹285 Cr participation in total venture capital fund of nearly ₹2873 Cr.

TDB-CEFIPRA-Bpifrance MoU

Link to the Programme 

TDB has signed MoU with Bpifrance, France to promote collaborative R&D with academics and industries from both the countries in fields of aeronautics, automotive industry and biotechnology.

Agreements signed under PPP mode

TDB has signed agreements with Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) and PHD Chambers of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) to scout for emerging technologies/technological areas of national importance.
